Would You die For This?

Peter and john were about to leave home for a journey they have never taken before. Peter’s wife bade him goodbye ‘God be with you. May all that you seek for find you! I love you. Just remember that I will always be expecting and praying for you .God Speed”, the wife said to him and watched peter walk the distance away.

 John’s wife on the other hand wasn’t about to let the husband go. “I am afraid that when you leave something might happen”, she said. “Don’t worry; I will be back in no time”, John replied. “Just put me in your prayers”, he added. She stared him with an concerned eyes, hugged him and reluctantly left him as he headed for the door.

Both men left the house with different disposition. They are friends and were about to set out on a journey to find a hidden treasure in the land of Exhume. They have been friends right from childhood and they found it amazing to have been interested in a particular subject: Treasures. They had gone to different higher institutions but studied the same course, Archeology.

As they set out on the journey, they were to pass a large forest. Peter trudged on from the back as they talked about their wives, life, and the treasure. At a point John decided to face back to make a point while walking backward.  Peter saw it first.  What does that look like? It looks like a snake. Peter was sure. Its a green snake. He called on to john as he saw the large green snake. “John! John! Stop right there! Don’t make a move!" Peter said. “Why? Just listen to the point that I’m trying to make. I know you are trying to scare me. It won’t work”. He was still moving backwards. The snake stealthily was of course, waiting for its prey, its neck curved backwards, ready to launch its attack.

“Please John, don’t move anymore” this time John read Peter’s serious countenance and turned back. As he turned, like lightning, he saw an object, or was it a rope, launch towards his face. Oh God! Before he could dodge it, it had bitten him on the nose. “Oh, my God! Oh my God!! Was that a snake?” John asked. He began to run. Peter ran too. “My nose! My nose! It bit my nose! It bit my nose! God, there is Blood! I’m dead!” John exclaimed.”I tried to warn you. I saw it late too,” said Peter, as they ran to find an open field.

Peter held John in his arms as John got weaker. He was determined more to achieve his quest. There was no way he could suck out the poison in John’s nose. “Please, take care of my wife when you get back. Make sure you get that treasure,” John said as his eyes were beginning to go dim. Peter cried.

I would love us to point out some few facts here. I’m sure Just like the above you may have witnessed scores of event like that run through your life or a friend’s or relatives’ , having gone out for an assignment in knowledge of the love of a loved one or in uncertainty of the loved one’s fear.

Learn It, Live It, Give It

I want to, today, reveal to you some of the things that motivate me, that keep me going and of course that sets a pace for the exciting future ahead.

I have come to see that most people live their lives just as it comes and worse still live it as ordinary as ordinary sounds.  So, I had earlier chosen to do three things over the course of my life.

Learn It

You see everyday a million thoughts come to our minds. What separates the mediocre from the great is how they listen to what comes to them and not just listen but also how they interpret and make use of those thoughts.

Every day, because I have chosen to listen to the right things, the things that build me up (mind you this is different for everybody), I know what actually connects with my spirit and I build on it. Like recently, I found out that my main inclination was on writing codes for programs though I studied an art course in school. Every day I see solutions that I could give to problems if I had the skills of programming codes. How would this solution come from me if not to learn the skills of programming? I ask. What would separate me from others and I am sure you too are if you make use of this every day thoughts. I had decided to leave my comfort zone of the ordinary. I chose the challenge because I know the happiness that comes with success at the end of every challenge. This doesn’t just apply to skills alone. It applies also to attitude, charisma, relationship, and name it.

I challenge you today!  Get to know that thought that sometimes flows into your head.  Work on that thought! Who knows? That could be what will make way for a drastic great change in your life.

Live it

I live a life that I believe will make a difference in my environment. In fact my life says “To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people exist, that is all.” Oscar Wilde thought me that. He makes a lot of sense when you think of it. The point is, once you have found that thought to work on, (everything that exists begins with a thought), life creates a whole new meaning for you. I will tell you, sometimes, you forget or feel like giving up the act. Don’t! Don’t put it away! Not yet. Live it. Give it all you have got. Inspire others through it. Success comes out from everything you give your heart totally to. Even if you don’t get exactly what you want from the way you chose to live your thought, it has added a whole new experience to you and if you look deeply, you are a changed person. And in these moments I remember the quote -

 And live like it's heaven on earth.”

Give it

This explains my future. If you know what I mean, this stage is that point where everything I have learnt is transferred to another person or generation. Some people have chosen to do this in 3 ways: For Free, For a Fee or for mutual Benefit. You can choose whatever way. It depends on which stage of life you are in and what it took you to learn the thought you have chosen. As a mum, you can chose to give it to your child(ren),  your neighbors or if you like the world for free. As a speaker, you can choose to teach people for a fee or for free. As a leader, you can choose to give it for mutual benefit. As an entrepreneur, you can choose to give it out for free. I can tell you this. Whatever way you choose is not wrong. Just give it. Make sure you give it. But choose to go by conscience and what serves humanity for good.

As for me, I have chosen to give you this piece for free.

People are God's Hands to Raise You

Sometimes, its pretty normal to feel as if you could just wave your hands, everything will fall in place. And the worse feeling of all is when you think you could do everything alone.

there was a time when everything seemed as if  I could hold it all together. everything seemed fine. i would go to a new place and people will just naturally favour me. if I am asked of money, I dont hesitate, it comes out then because it was there. I felt I had no need in the world because God had already provided for me maybe because of the way I look. I was just favoured.

Then, in a short while, I realized I was getting older and I wasn't as favoured as I used to be. I don't get cash or favours as fast as I used to get them when I asked for it. I wanted to do things on my own when I get disappointments, rejection... I believed I don't have to trust anyone. people are not worth relying on. I did things myself. and I didnt get lucky as i used to. Life's best things seemed very far away. I was more far away from people whom I thought mattered. and when something spectacular happened, I was the last person to know. I realized it was because I was far away from people. and when I did know what was happening, it was late to take part in it.

Things continued  till i found out how people mattered in my life. if you noticed, Adam was lonely and God saw he needed someone to relate with. he then created Eve. Eve was God's gift to Adam. people i found out are God's gift to humans.
the moment i found this, i started searching for old friends. new acquaintances, neighbours (who were there but I didnt notice), colleagues at work, new friends, you can name them. and you know what? I found them. I found real friends. I found real help in them. I was also willing to help people who needed it. I was a friend. and those things which seemed hard to get were coming easy.

Recently, I wanted to employ someone who could be trusted. Well, because I had people around me, all it took was a question. and I got someone. I am better for it. People all over the world would testify that good people around you is like God's hands with you. people are God's messenger here on earth. I could be used by God. I believe this and so should you.

until we realize that part of our purpose on earth is to add value to people's life, getting the best things might seem very hard. We may be wondering that things can only be done by ourselves and by us alone, but being great demands more than that. Realize this, people are part of us. they are what makes life worth living if you have the right ones around you. welcome them in to your life. be a friend. But most importantly be a good friend.

Smile always. See the best in others. offer to help your neighbour. buy a gift for that special person. Do these things and you would be surprise that that person you choose to be part of the people in your life is God's hands around you.

Doing what should be done.

Sometimes doing what should be done could be a daunting task. Most times we say to ourselves ‘we don’t feel like doing that thing’. When you look at that word, doing what we ‘feel’ like doing could actually be misleading.  We should instead do what should be done and in some cases must be done. Margret Thatcher would say “people don’t think anymore…they feel”. It’s not always encouraging to do what you feel most especially when there are things to achieve as a person. In the following, we would be stating those things to do in order to do what should be done even when we don’t feel like doing it. 

Set goals

Initially this action might seem hard which is also leaning towards the feeling. Do what has to be done. Set goals. Goals are action plans needed for coordination and control and achievements. Its gives you control of your life and when you set goals, it doesn’t stop there. Mind that your goals must be clear and should have a definite date of expiry. It doesn’t mean however that when the set date comes and you haven’t achieved your goal, that you give up and condemn the act. It is a time to be more pro-active. Analyze and see get the lesson from the period. Ask yourself, “What factors kept me from achieving my goals?”

Plan

When you have set goals for yourself, you then need (mind the word need) to plan on how to achieve those goals. It is said that if you fail to plan, you have planned to fail. Planning is the next best thing to do for yourself if success is your target. A plan is a bunch of steps to be taken to achieve a goal. This is the things you will be doing in order to achieve your set goals. For example, you might have a goal to buy a house in one year.  In the plan you write down things to do (what to sell, what deal to make, mortgage, etc) within that year in order to obtain the house. Plans made ahead save you lots of time in the achievement process. It gives you direction.

Action

A goal is worthless if there is no action. Action is what determines whether your goals are achievable. It determines your result. For every goal set, take action. Go visit your grand mum. Take your wife for a walk. Spend more time with your family, etc

Excellence in Diligence

Now taking action isn’t simply making that call to see if the customer will buy your product. There is more. If Walmart has simply decided to set up an international supermarket without making it up to an excellent standard, they may not have made their name in the industry today. Put excellence in every of you endeavour. If not you might end up achieving nothing, having put so much to work. Package that new product with quality. Strategize.  Create a system. Stay more with details. Now you may be wondering, I don’t have the personality to be detail-conscious. It’s okay. Get someone who can if you can or start something anyway. With time, ordinary practice with get better. Practice they say brings about perfection. Excellence matters in presentation. Work excellently and be diligent in that which you put your hands in and the sky, I tell you, is your starting point.

Communication

Detailed and clear are the words here. Sometimes to be able to achieve a goal, you should be able to communicate your goals clearly. Let’s say you want to build a garden at the back of your house. Wouldn’t you want to employ the services of a Gardener? If the gardener comes, wouldn’t you explain in detail to the gardener your mental description of how you want the garden to be? Even if you do, he needs to be able to connect with you on how you want your garden to be. Even so, the goals you want to achieve through your employees must be communicated properly, if not, you might be disappointed when results start to show. Communication goes a long way to even motivate you to go on and achieve a goal having told others about your goal and not wanting to go back on your words.

These are some of the factors that allow you to get done most of the things that needs to be done. I call it the definition of happiness. When you look at it, happiness comes as a result of achieving a set goal.
